Republica Typeface
Republica is a typeface built from objects found on the streets of Astana. Each letter is based on a separate real-world form discovered in the urban environment.
The project developed over six months and exists in two versions: as a set of PNG glyphs and as a functional typeface.

Functional typeface
In its typeset version, Republica works alongside a neutral grotesque base: the found forms replace selected letters and disrupt the rhythm of otherwise familiar text.
I vectorized the collected forms, corrected problematic details, and built them into a complete typeface in FontLab.
Every letter is a found object
The forms were first discovered and photographed around the city, then isolated from their surroundings and turned into standalone glyphs.

All 26 characters also exist as separate images and can be used independently from the typeset version.
